My professional journey has been a roller coaster ride during 10years of my entrepreneurial OT practice. My area of interest is OT in Musculoskeletal conditions,to be more specific hand.
The challenges in the open market of professional Musculoskeletal OT practice is tremendous
With PT as your counterparts dominating the industry in MSk
However hand Splinting is a medium to get your share Of specific work load in the practice
However, experiencing the position of OT in the market my area of interest has become to have develop adult OT practice enterprises in the city
2) What are the conceptual contents that can be looked forward to bring in Occupational therapy practice?
The concept of OT do exists in the private sector too.
However there exists a crisis to access to OT services
We shall focus on areas like splinting ,Cancer rehab, practice ADL,wheelchair and aid consultancy etc where PT has no or minimal role to play.
3) What are your views on job opportunities and remuneration for young professionals?
Job opportunities and remuneration for young professionals is a matter of concern to me for those whose area of interest is adult OT practice more if its MSK .
There has been a few hospitals offering OT job now in the city which is a good development in a decades time however the remuneration offered is disappointing.
For deal with such situation OT professionals should set a minimal remuneration bar to be received and increase in entrepreneurial setups will help to bring up more solutions in this area.
4)What are the strategies that can be developed to groom entrepreneurship in the professional practice at par with market excellence?
Strategies to develop entrepreneurship is to target young students interns :pg students, novel professionals to train them and discuss with them.
Need of entrepreneurship ,Marketing ,business models with service delivery being its essence.
Conducting regularly these sessions with an inspirational story from a successful OT Entrepreneur.
5) Please can you illustrate on the ethical considerations for the same ?
As a professional the ethics of practice to be followed is indiapenaible .Service delivery with the ethical base is the essence of entrepreneurship
Your highlights:
*My Professional Strength -Perseverance in the Adult practice at the entrepreneurial level.
communicating client's problem in their language (not hindi, marathi, but their issues )is I believe my professional strength as it develops trust between therapist patient relationship.
*The philosophy I follow-Do your best, your very best ,leave into the lord the rest and try try till you succeed
* I dislike most-
I am most unhappy about therapist from any area of specialization practicing or getting diverted to Pediatric practice which is now overflowing with therapists.
It's time to focus on other areas so that generations after do not face the same problems as we are facing today.
P.S:P.S: I extend my gratitude to her for giving me her valuable time. See you all next Saturday with another guest.
